We recommend using inner cover between the roof and the box. The cover prevents bees sealing the roof to the box. Propolis sealed inner cover removal is easier.

It’s highly recommended to paint the polyhives. A coat of paint protects the material from the UV radiation, dirt and wear. Honey Paw polystyrene paint is designed specifically for polyhives. It’s low viscosity, which makes it easy to achieve a smooth finish. The paint also fills nicely the porous surface of the polystyrene. Can be applied with a brush, sprayer or roller. The required amount of layers depends on the applying method and the desired result. The paint adheres well, but we recommend using the Honey Paw Primer to gain the maximum bond.

A mouse guard is pinned to the entrance of the hive to prevent mice entering the hive. With Honey Paw hives screws are not required. The fitting is tight enough to keep the guard firmly in place.
