We recommend using inner cover between the roof and the box. The cover prevents bees sealing the roof to the box. Propolis sealed inner cover removal is easier.

Hive bottom with a mesh. Provides stable and healthy environment for the honeybees during the whole year. With this hive bottom it’s possible to use integrated varroa tray. Available with three mesh options. The plastic mesh is included by default, but it can be upgraded to the alloy mesh or to the most robust option, steel grille.
The steel grille has a gap of 3.3 mm which is narrow enough to prevent bees going through.

Hive bottom with ventilation board provides stable and healthy environment for the honeybees during the whole year. Ventilattion board can be adjusted so that the bottom ventilation is open or completely closed. Ventilation board is made of styrofoam to ensure good thermal insulation. The board can be replaced with Honey Paw hive bottom pollen collector. By default the floor is delivered with a plastic mesh, but you can upgrade it to an aluminium mesh or a steel grille.

Must have addition for the Honey Paw hive bottom. Pollen Trap integrates with the hive bottom replacing the ventilation board.
It’s highly recommended to paint the polyhives. A coat of paint protects the material from the UV radiation, dirt and wear. Honey Paw polystyrene paint is designed specifically for polyhives. It’s low viscosity, which makes it easy to achieve a smooth finish. The paint also fills nicely the porous surface of the polystyrene. Can be applied with a brush, sprayer or roller. The required amount of layers depends on the applying method and the desired result. The paint adheres well, but we recommend using the Honey Paw Primer to gain the maximum bond.

A mouse guard is pinned to the entrance of the hive to prevent mice entering the hive. With Honey Paw hives screws are not required. The fitting is tight enough to keep the guard firmly in place.
