Mesimestari honey – A responsible and reliable choice
Finland’s pristine nature is of paramount importance to us. Since 1976, our family business has been making responsible choices for our shared future—uncompromisingly on the terms of Finnish nature and bees.
We use renewable, domestic energy in our operations. Since 1997, the Mesimestari farm has been heated with wood chips sourced from our own forest. The waste wood generated during forest thinning is also used in our beeswax purification services, and this innovation is unique worldwide. Wax purification takes place in a facility where wood chip heat warms insulated purification containers, and the slight heat that escapes through the insulation warms the room. The system makes the work easier, improves the cleaning results, and allows work to be done indoors year-round, so potential bee diseases do not spread into the environment. We also favor other ecologically sustainable solutions, and the electricity we use on the farm is produced carbon-free.

Finnish honey is a health-promoting climate action
Honey has a smaller carbon footprint than sugar. Since Finnish honey is produced locally, transportation emissions are also lower than those from honey imported from abroad.
By buying Mesimestari honey, you ensure that bees’ undeniably important pollination work benefits the local environment. – Finnish berry forests and fruit trees in gardens thrive thanks to bee pollination. Honey is also good for your health thanks to the flavonoids and enzymes it contains. Furthermore, compared to sugar, it provides the same sweetness with fewer calories. Enjoying Finnish honey is truly an eco-friendly and healthy choice.
The honey we produce is certified high-quality honey, as production is monitored by the authorities. When you enjoy domestic honey, you can be sure that no other sugar products have been added during production. We also closely monitor the quality of our honey ourselves using laboratory samples. All of our honey can be traced back to the producer using the “best before” date on the jar. Samples are also retained from every batch, and quality and purity tests are conducted on them.
Caring for hardworking pollinators
Our founder, Juha Nuutero, began beekeeping at a young age, and over the years, his hobby has evolved into active development work in the field. The Mesimestarit product range includes a variety of tools designed to promote bee welfare and facilitate honey production. Among other things, we have developed the HoneyPaw lightweight hive, which is particularly suited to the cold conditions of the north, ensuring the bees’ safe overwintering. In addition, Mesimestari’s patented and award-winning innovation, the slit-hive, enables easy handling and the removal of honeycomb frames without the need for chemicals or manual scraping. We continue our work and innovation to advance the industry.
